Softcore had zo'n systeem:
Archis. (maar het was 1990 en voor zijn tijd en op Apple en grafisch)

DAR: dar kun je bvb iedere 24u / 6u / minuut laten runnen, om een
backup te maken naar disc/netwerk.
Automatisch, want met "cron"=unix

zie
man cron
in terminal

Dar kan bestanden encrypteren/ splitten/ samenvoegen etc
Dat zou simpel en knap kunnen zijn, om bvb een /User/gerard directory
te backuppen.
Voor ALLES, dus OS 10.4 etc lijkt me dat niet evident... dar kent niets
van de OS X toestanden als bvb hardware files in /dev/ ...

About:
Dar is a shell command that makes backup of a directory tree and files.
Its
features include splitting archives over several files, CDs, ZIPs, or
floppies, compression, full or differential backups, proper saving and
restoration of hard links and extended attributes, remote backup using
pipes and external command (such as ssh), and rearrangement of the
"slices" of an existing archive. It can now run commands between
slices,
encrypt archives, and quickly retrieve individual files from
differential
and full backups. Dar also has external GUI like kdar for Linux, thanks
to
the well documented API.
