Hi. Scsi connectors for the scanner's cable are usually made with the MacIntosh computer in mind? The Mac has a 25 pin SCSI connector that appears the same as a parallel printer port (female 25-pin). Fast SCSI-2 controllers usually have a very small 50-pin "Honda" connector that has small lock-on fastener clamps. This kind is on the Adaptec AHA-2842VL. Larger 50-pin Centronics connectors can be found on the Adaptec AHA-154xB and C and on the AHA-152X adaptors. These might be what you have? All that may be necessary to connect to your scanner is a 50-pin Centronics to 50-pin to Centronics cable (or similar) that would take the 50-pin Centronics connector of your SCSI adaptor and connect it to the 50-Pin Centronics connector of your Scanner. The HP ScanJet IIcx that I have can be connected to my AHA-1542C when used with the Adaptec ASPI manager driver and HP's own Real-mode Dos driver that interacts with the ASPI layer driver. I also make sure that it has a unique SCSI address. SCSI termination is important. Make sure that each extreme end of your SCSI bus is terminated. I have just discovered that some OCR software does not recognize my scanner when 32-bit only drivers are used to drive my scanner. I must load some drivers in both Config.sys in Win95 and have the GUI Win95 32-bit drivers operate the scanner for it to work with all software. Only HP's scan software works with only 32-bit drivers installed, and I must have my scanner powered on when the Win95 GUI boots up or the scanner is not recognized. The 32-bit drivers are configured via Scanner Manager 2.0 or some such for the software that uses the Real-mode Config.sys drivers of the scanner. Nothing is ever easy. Hope this helps.
