Trust scanners and WIN 95

I'm looking for help for:
1. Installing a scanner
2. Reinstalling Win 3.11 over Win 95

1. Installing scanner
This week I bought at Macro Deurne (Antwerp)
a "Trust Aashima 9600 dpi" flat bed scanner
for BF 19.990 (= US $ 650 = Hfl 1000).
On the box, it gives:
"Designed for Windows 95".

Though:

a - Running the driver disk "Imagery series":
it does not create the "scanner" folder in WIN 95,
as expected and announced in the booklet.

The booklet is for win 3.11.
(I reinstalled win 3.11 for making it work
- see problems below though -
and finally got a "scanner" group there
in the Win 3.11 Program manager).

The driver installed is just a SCSI card driver,
but does not allow to scan directly.
The SCSI controll box gives OK for ID 4.

(I had to install the suplied SCSI card,
although I had a SCSI connector free
on my Adaptec HD controller card, but unfortunately
their SCSI cable is not designed for a normal SCSI
connection at the PC side, but has a small connector
for their dedicated card)

b - I couldn't really scan though,
since the software supplied does not contain
any simple picture scanning program.
Gadgets supplied are:
- ImagePals 2 for editing pictures from
the omnipage CDROM
- OmniPage 4.0 for OCR recognition
(no picture saving)

c - The "Trust Aashima" booklet with the driver discette
refers to Adobe Photoshop when explaining
how to scan pictures.
So I guess I have to buy that first
for seeing if my scanner works or not.

d - In the documentation Aashima has no street address,
no telephone nor fax number, just a post-box:
Postbus 3123, Nl 2130 Hoofddorp.

e - Can anybody pse tell me:

- Are there WIN95 drivers available for the
Trust Aashima 9600 dpi flat bed scanner?

- Does this cy have a street address and
tel / fax / BBS numbers?

- Is there any scan software allowing me
to scan a picture with this scanner, without me being
forced to buy Adobe Photoshop?

2. Reinstalling windows 3.11 over win 95.

a - For testing my scanner, that has only a win 3.11
SCSI driver, I had to reinstall win 3.11.

(I had an other reason for reinstalling win 3.11:
I have a very nice CDROM "The Anglo-Saxons"
from Cambrix, that I cannot reinstall under WIN 95,
since the installation program is:
- a win 3.11 *.rec file
- requires the country being preset to US
- and requires the keybord being set to Querty;
I live in Belgium, my keybord is Azerty,
that disturbs the *.rec procedure in win 3.11;
it doesn't work at all under win 95)

b - when starting the only thing to be installed,
i.e. the driver for the dedicated SCSI card,
I got "Cannot find winaspi.dll".
I copied winaspi.dll from the c:\windows\system win 95
directory into my win 3.11 directory h:\win311\system.

Then I finally could run the SCSI test (was OK).

c - since the win 3.11 did not automatically install
a driver for my CD-ROM, and since my CD ROM is controlled
using a SB AWE 32 card, I tried to install for win 3.11
my SB AWE 32 drivers.

The installation couldn't go on:
I get "Not enough conventional memory"
for running the install program.
Removing autoexec.bat and config.sys didn't help.
The win 3.11 installation was a bare bone one,
without including any applications,
other than the SCSI driver, just installed before.

d - Above, I started my WIN 3.11 after pressing F8
when booting, for preventing WIN95 to start.

e - When I start WIN95 first, quit it for DOS,
and try to start WIN 3.11 from the DOS prompt
I get "Windows protection error #06".

f - Question:

Is there a proper procedure for (re)installing WIN 3.11
after WIN 95 is intalled first, without the troubles,
discribed above?

Thanks for all help,

Roger
