Hello, I hava an asus mainbord with an cyrix 166+ at 133 mhz CPU with an award bios. I have a problem when i start my computer everything goes perfect until he displays the figure with the info about your configuaration proc type hd etc. then he says UPDATING ESCD.... and the system hangs who can help me please steven Steven Jansen s.jansen@inter.nl.net Holland

And if that doesnt work - Have you installed a new hard drive?? I had this same EXACT problem several months ago. I still have not figured out what I did but in short I had to install a bios extension that would allow bios to see disk drives greater than 540 meg. I think I got a copy of EZ bios (might search for it). This took care of the problem. This all started when I installed a second 1.6gig drive. BIOS was only seeing 540meg. I did some Fdisk work (DUH Fdisk uses BIOS) to try and get it running but to no avail. EZ bios did the trick. Het lijkt erop dat jouw bios bij elke boot van je pc z'n data opnieuw wegschrijft. Dat kan nooit de bedoeling zijn, omdat normaal gesproken deze melding alleen mag optreden indien je je bios-instellingen aanpast. Er is een optie in je bios waar je dit aan/uit kan zetten. Succes.
