DEGANAWIDAH The Peace Maker. An Iroquois Legend to heal Self and Society You are invited to participate in two days of intensive teachings, shamanic work and ceremonies woven around the story of the great Native American `Peace Prophet', Deganawidah, who used his Vision of harmony to establish a lasting peace amongst the warring tribes of the Iroquois people. His vision and teachings are just as applicable now as then, and are even more needed. We can apply these practical teachings to our personal lives and immediate community as well as on a more global scale, to transform conflict into a positive cultural energy for personal growth and community `building'. As we travel together through this great story, reliving it`s teachings, we hope to discover not only it`s revelatory power for our own lives and community, but what it has to say about the new confederacy of the planet that we`re moving towards, a confederacy that honours the authenticity and the autonomy of each individual member, be it nation, state, tribe or culture. The Iroquois Confederacy of Deganawidah and Hiawatha is thus a microcosm of a planetary society, with the great Tree of Peace that they planted as the grounding, the rooted basis for all nations to coexist in friendship and harmony and for all parts of ourselves to come together for new ways of being.
