================================================== Request For Discussion: eunet.politics.cyberrights ================================================== Now that the Infobahn is beginning to take shape, it would be a good idea to think about the consequences on our society. In several European countries, eff-like organisations have been founded and discussions are beginning to take place. A European newsgroup could be used to discuss the issues on a european level, inform people about what's happening in other countries and coordinate actions, which may be desirable because much of today's legislation comes from the EU. The initiative for an european group came from the Dutch and Belgian digital civilians movements. Here's the proposed groupname, one-line description and charter. eunet.politics.cyberrights Information society and public interests Discussions about all aspects of the information society. Developments at both the government and the commercial sector, and the impact on the average citizen can be discussed. The group is intended for the whole of Europe, but focuses on the European Union. Feed-back is appreciated. Please send followups to eunet.misc. If consensus is reached, a Call For Votes will be posted in about two weeks.
