Civil rights firebrand Rev. Al Sharpton wants Hillary Clinton to show some gratitude for the unwavering
support black Americans offered the first family during the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

The First Lady happened to be at Manhattan's Plaza Hotel Wednesday as Sharpton led a Wall Street rally
calling for justice for the family of Amadou Diallo, the African immigrant gunned down by New York City
police three weeks ago.

Sandwiched in between his patented shouts of "No justice, no peace," Rev. Al directed this zinger at Mrs.
Clinton:

"We prayed for you in your hour of pain. But there's another woman named Madame Diallo that would
need you to stand by her in her hour of pain. We need to hear from you, Mrs. Clinton."

Inside Cover has some advice for Rev. Sharpton: Don't hold your breath. The Clintons have a long
history of abandoning friends in need, especially black ones.

Here's just the short list of African Americans used, abused, betrayed and worse by "America's first black
president" and his wife:

Dr. Jocelyn Elders: the Clinton Surgeon General who was given the boot for recommending the same
kind a sexual gratification Mr. Clinton was practicing in Oval Office pantry sinks after his
Monica-interruptus moments.

Maggie Williams: onetime Chief of Staff to the First Lady, allegedly ordered by Hillary to pilfer papers
from Vince Foster's office the night he died. Hundreds of thousands in legal bills later, Williams fled to
Paris where she now lives in seclusion.

Alexis Herman, Mike Espy and token Hispanic Henry Cisneros: Clinton Cabinet Secretaries who had
independent counsels sicced on them by AG Janet Reno, while charter members of what Dee Dee Myers
called "the Clinton white boys club" -- Al Gore and Harold Ickes -- slipped the noose.

The late Ron Brown: another Cabinet Secretary thrown to the investigative wolves, whose body turned up
with an apparent bullet wound to the head just as he was about to be indicted. Despite calls for an
investigation from civil rights leaders -- including Al Sharpton -- team Clinton refused to re-examine
Brown's death.

Billy Ray Washington: An Arkansan arrested in 1984 after a racial scuffle with some white toughs, one of
whom died during some minor surgery due to the apparent negligence of Clinton's mother, the attending
nurse-anesthesist. To save Ma Clinton's job, Mr. Washington was framed on a homicide charge.

Rickey Ray Rector: a death row retardate whose 1992 execution was used by Clinton to showcase his
credentials as a "New Democrat" who was tough on black crime.

Charlette Perry: an Arkansas secretary who lost out on a promotion when Clinton-squeeze Gennifer
Flowers needed a state job. Perry sued and won -- but restitution was blocked by her Clinton-connected
boss.

Lani Guinier: Appointed by Clinton to head up Justice's civil rights division in 1993, Bill and Hill tossed
her over the side after critics dubbed Guinier a "quota queen."

Then there's Betty Currie, Vernon Jordan, Dr. Henry Foster. The list of African Americans relegated to
doormat status by the first family goes on and on.

And if that isn't enough to convince Rev. Sharpton et al that the Clintons view blacks as eminently
disposable commodities, Inside Cover directs him to Hillary's May 1996 speech before the fundraising
group Emily's List, where the she mocked San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown using a very politically
incorrect Amos n' Andy accent.

Or, the good Rev. might check out the Washington Post's archives, where he'll find a Sept. 19, 1997
column by Al Kamen featuring a photo of Bill cavorting in an Afro-wig at a Martha's Vineyard soiree full of
his white friends. Ms. Guinier, who summers at the Vineyard, was appparently not invited.
