Well said.  I read the same thing about the criminalization of
marijuana.  I also belevie it was due to widespread hysteria,
disinformation, and scare tactics from the government, and the media.

Don't fall for that "government is for the people" crap.  Laws are
laws because they benefit the elite in power.  Not, because they are
agreed upon by the general public.

Furthermore, as a resident of Washington DC, I have NO congressional
representaion whatsoever.  The laws that are passed by "society"
surely weren't ok'ed by anyone in my neighborhood.  As far as the
congressional lawmakers are concerned, we are supposed to "pay full
federal taxes, and shut up".

Some societal consent.
