Anne and I have discussed this in e-mail and she would probably post
the same suggestion, in retrospect, if her newsfeed wasn't temporarily
out of it. There were a couple of things in the message which got
overlooked:

While this is a moving story, we don't know both sides of it, and
have no way of knowing all the implications. Above all, there is
the issue of the right of the person in question to stay "lost"
if that is her choice, and to her privacy (and perhaps safety;
we just have no way of knowing).

It seems like the best that we can do, as people reading this on
the net, is to deliver the message should we see her. Anything
else is up to her.

A real extension might be an anonymous telephone call that simply
indicates that she has been seen and is alive and well. Not where.
Not who you are, or how *you* may be located. You must watch out
for yourself, as well.

It's a heart-rending story, and seems honest and genuine. But we
need to be careful that this communication medium doesn't unwittingly
eclipse the privacy or safety of anyone.
