So we have finally made it! After all the hectic efforts to kindle the
spirit of SPIC-MACAY on the campus, the Columbia University Chapter
has organized an inaugural performance scheduled on Friday, the 20th
of November. Dr. L. Subramanyam has kindly consented to give the
inaugural performance.

This being the first performance, the chapter is in need of good ideas
and inputs from the student body and the faculty members. Towards this
end the chapter is organizing an informal meeting this Saturday.
Please come by and join others in discussing the logistics of the
upcoming event. If you were unable to make it to the first
meeting, this would be a good time to begin your association with the
chapter and to get to know others involved....and we do need all the
help we can get!

The chapter also invites voluntary contributions to the SPIC-MACAY
fund at Columbia University which will go towards covering the
expenses for any such events held by the chapter both now and in
the future. The contributions are tax deductible and you can make your
payment in cash or by a cheque payable to SPIC-MACAY to any of the
following people.

Aparna Guha Economics (866-1158)
Neeraja Sivaramayya Economics (749-9621)

Uday Sawhney Chemical Engg (222-3211)

You can also send it by campus mail to

Aparna Guha, Dept. of Economics, 1022 IAB, Columbia
        University.

So once again, please do come by for the meeting this Saturday at the
place and venue mentioned below. If you know others who would be
interested but are not on the mailing list, please ask them to come
along and we can put them on the regular mailing list too. We look
forward to seeing you there.
