~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SET FOR SUNDAY, October 4th - Bigger Than Ever!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The fantastic ATLANTIC ANTIC, one of New York City's major outdoor
attractions, is set for Sunday, October 4th, from 11 AM to 5 PM. The
large-scale event, now in its eighteenth year, draws nearly
one-million spectators to Downtown Brooklyn each year. The borough's
oldest and biggest festival takes place rain or shine. It is always
fun and peaceful.
The ATLANTIC ANTIC covers one-and-a-quarter miles of the famed
Brooklyn boulevard (Atlantic Avenue), from Fourth Avenue to the
River. The ANTIC has become an authentic international food and
entertainment festival, featuring scores of performers and a
smorgasbord of different ethnic foods including Arabic, Italian,
Chinese, Polynesian, West Indian, Mexican, Spanish, Swedish, Cuban
and various other types of uncommon cookery, not to mention delicious
desserts and munchies!
The ANTIC continues to follow tradition this year with its fabulous
PARADE! An array of colorful floats, bands, assorted street
performers, antique autos and marching units. This will be Brooklyn's
largest parade ever.
Belly dancers, steel drum bands, jazz, theatre, mimes and much more
will transform Atlantic Avenue into a vivid boulevard of sighs and
sound, showcasing the rich ethnic diversity and cultural delights of
the borough. Scores of vendors lined across the festival sidewalks
will sell a potpourri of merchandise including antiques and
collectibles, children's item's, commercial products, assorted
bric-a-brac and maybe even a dust collector or two. Brooklyn
community organizations and institutions will also join-in with
booths throughout the fair. The businesses which comprise Brooklyn's
"Antique Row" will also be featured. Numerous other highlights and
activities will occur at the day-long event. Updates can be obtained
by calling the ANTIC HOTLINE AT (718) 875-8993.
The ATLANTIC ANTIC is a program of the ATLANTIC AVENUE ASSOCIATION
LOCAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, a not-for-profit organization
dedicated to the revitalization of Atlantic Avenue and the Downtown
Brooklyn environs.
