Sunday between 8pm and midnight ! (NY time)
 Weekends on WBCQ 7415 !!!
Check out John P Lightning !
Brooklyns best!
He makes Howard Stern look like an amatuer broadcaster.
And on friday the Alan Weiner show.
TimTron on Staurday and some other guy I just found out about (not
sure of his name yet) <~that goes on till like 1am.
Theres a weekday show from NY too about 5:30 or also.
Check out WBCQ's scheule for the weekends if you're sick of
Clearchannel ministry of informercial-mation.

Here'sssssss Johnny !

You can listen in your car for like a $32 converter.
eg
4-band digital shortwave converter for cars, trucks etc.

And if you bicycle you can clip a wire from a little shortwave radio
from eBAY to your bikes reflector and get perfect reception.

    <just sayin>

That doesn't take much. Howard does that himself.

Can you recommend a small cheap portable shortwave radio?

I'm so sick of Chicago's exceedingly crappy NPR affiliate.

Different SW portables and vendors are frequently discussed on
rec.radio.shortwave

He makes millions, is socially disfunctional, irrationally popular,
obnoxious, pompous, divorced and obsessed with his OWN
privacy while reveling in the humiliation of others.......

Just like your "hero" Ghoulee!!!

Gee, I thought you were one of Howard's "Whack Pack".

<Cue Gary Greentooth>
"Now lets bring in "Hom*Brew" Phil. Phil makes his own
special "Hom*Brew" which he drinks while having never-
ending cop fantasies and dreaming of giving former Mayor,
Giuliani oral!"

Phil is brought into the studio, he begins to rant....

"Giuliani RULES!!! The Yankess RULE!!!! Lets have some
LAW AND ORDER in this <bleep>ing town! Thats what
I am talking about!!"

Phil offers Howard and Robin a six pack of his "Hom*Brew.

"So let me get this straight", asks Howard, "you are the biggest
Yankee fan and the biggest Giuilani fan in New York"?

"<bleep>ing A!" Phil exhorts

"Well let me tell you something, my drunken friend", says
Howard, "Ghoulee is a scumsucking hood who screwed all
of New York and the Yankee's suck Bill Buckner's bunions!
Now take your rancid swill back into the green room and
throw up in Hank the Dwarf's memorial puke bucket!"

"Gary, you idiot, get me a real guest!" bemoans Howard, "Lets
take a break and come back with someone more interesting
than Phil.....a homeless person who Phil steps over every day."

Yes Radio Shack has a dynamo SW radio that you can play without
batteries.
 Wind it up and go.
(It also has a light)
 It's $39.00
 Or Ebay
 I got a Tecsun PL230 for only 75.00
But I hear the best cheap radio better than that is
The Kaito KA 1101
 It even has sideband .
I found out about it just after I bought the Tecsun
http://www.radiolabs.com/products/radio/Kaito/KA1101.php

You can clip a wire from your antenna with alligator clips to a
ground,(I sometimes clip it to a faucet,or a screw that holds the
electrical socket cover f'rinstance)
Or just a 10 ft wire on the floor works well.
The big thing about listeing to shortwave is finding out where to
tune at different times of the day.
WBCQ is good weekends afternoons especially 4 or 5 pm
till like midnight.
  But some programs like Infowars
is at 9.475 http//:www.infowars.com,or the power hour
http:www.thepowerhour.com which is actually three hours long and the
frequencies change 3 times in the am broacast when they play in like
the morning and 7.580 at night between 9pm and midnight.
(News ad health tips <~the show is run by the Airforce urse that made
Gulf War syndrome a household wod.
She has a lot of great health tips and products.
They have this new stuff called Oxymune which is not only beneficial
to your health, but it's supposed to be better than amphetamines for
energy =)
  I haven't ordered it yet.
 (But I'm gonna)
I have purchased other items from them that you could never find
anywhere else.
Fuoride is a corrosive(put the words corrosive and fluoride in google
see what you get LOL)
People are also encouraged to go to the dentist and pay through the
nose to get their teeth bleached.
Thanks to nurse Riley I bought some medical grade charcoal (which has
MANY uses) and it removes plaque and stains better than bleach.
You can also extract mosquito spider etc venom from a bite with a
charcoal poultice.
Stuff you would never hear about on CFR/NPR
Didja know Clearchannel is helping NPR
with funding via corporate sponsorship?
Like that Wal Mart darling boy Tavis McSmiley?
 Yes NPR really bites nowadays.
Ken Nordine, and LeShow are about all thats still good there.
But you can get Harry Shearers LeShow
Sunday at 6 pm 7.415 (then right when LeShow is over the Simpsons
come on TV<~the _only_ show I can stand on the lie box)instead of
waiting till 10pm for NPR

Infowars is on(only the first 2 hrs) is at 9.745 in the afternoon
11:00 am to 2pm and replayed with an extra hour between 9 and
midnight on 3.210.

So it takes some effort to find your programming.
 Theres Danis radio,Australian radio,Radio Netherlands ,lotsa BBC,CBC
(But Canadian radio is boring ~>ya hey dere)
Another interesting show is Derry Brownfield
http://www.derrybrownfield.com
But it's only on from 10 to 11 am weekdays on both 9.320 and 12.160

You could get the emergecy radio where you have to tune in on the
dial,but it's a hassle.
It's hard to get exacly on the frequency your looking for on an
analog dial.
(I also have a couple of cheapie radios for the bike that don't cover
the whole
SW 1 and SW 2 bands)
You're probably better off with a Kaito KA1101 because once you find a
station you can set it to the memory and can just scan to known
frequencies instead of turning the dial which is a lot because there
are like 28 different meter bands.
And...the programs aren't all bunched up
on one station playng like minded shows
all day.
 You gotta move around.
It's harder to listen to shortwave in the beginning, but a lot of that
is due to the way shortwave propagates a signal.
(Why the frequencies change for summer for example)
But it's worth it to get away from CFR/NPR and Clearchannel flatliner
programming.
The frequencies often change for the summer, and sometimes solar
flares, and other weather conditions may affect reception so you have
to be perserverant.
If you have a sunroof in your car you can just use a velcro elastic
strap to strap the radio to the sunroof handle, and as long as the
antenna gets outside of the car you can also have shortwave in the
car.

I haven't felt this good since I killed my television!
