:) Charging extra for using a credit card is quite normal at deep
:) discount stores, since they have to pay a comission to the card
:) company.  Technically they're not supposed to charge "extra", which is
:) why you'll normally find somewhere in the ad "prices reflect cash
:) discount" if the cash and credit card prices are not the same.  That
:) is, the 3.5% higher amount is the "regular" price and if you pay with
:) cash they pass the savings on to you.  It seems fair to me.

It's also against the merchant agreement they sign with the credit
card company.  I know for a fact that Amex goes out of their way to
enforce this.
