They are definitely heros, which is why it sickens me that so many
Bush-bashing leftists would demean and demoralize their efforts for
political gain.

Active duty military does require presidential approval, but the
National Guard fall soley and completely under the direction of the
state Governors. You're not the least bit bothered that Governor
Blanco sat on her fat ass and did nothing with the Louisiana State
Guard while people died?

Are you also not the least bit bothered that Louisiana State officials
blocked loaded Red Cross trucks from going to the Superdome immediately
after the storm because they didn't want the superdome to be a "magnet"
for victims?

Absolutely. I'm amazed that Blanco and the mayor both havn't been
brought up on criminal negligence charges. It is unthinkable that
neither the mayor or the Governor would have thought ahead to ensure
the Guard were positioned in the Superdome with food and water and to
provide security.

I feel for them, definitely. The mayor and the governor's incompetence
let them down, starting with their failure to use their own fleet of
city buses and school buses to evacuate the people out of the city. I
hope the good people of Louisiana vote out both the Mayor and the
Governor and elect competent leaders who know how to respond to a
disaster, like Mayor Giuliani and Governor Jeb Bush.
