Many of hte titles you places on these stories are at best very misleading or out right lies. Did you even bother to read any of these articles or did you just cut ant past from one of the various websites that had this very list posted? > > FEMA won't accept Amtrak's help in evacuations > http://news.ft.com/cms/s/84aa35cc-1da8-11da-b40b-00000e .. Rail was shut down in the area and could not be reopened until the rail lines and bridges can be checked. That is direct from a railyard operator here in Houston. > > FEMA turns away experienced firefighters > http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/9/5/105538/7048 > > FEMA turns back Wal-Mart supply trucks > http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/05/national/nationalspec .. > > FEMA prevents Coast Guard from delivering diesel fuel > http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/05/national/nationalspec .. Do you even think about these issues before you cite them? Do you think it is wise you allow anyone and everyone access to a disaster zone that is not secure or safe? I know we want them in to help those who need help but in a situation such as this it becomes an all to common occurance that the helpers soon be come the ones needing help. This would further drain resources to help those who need it the most. With supplies, where do you put it all? You have to plan out logistics or else supplies are lost and wasted. Use some common sense instead of knee-jerk reactions. > > FEMA won't let Red Cross deliver food > http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05246/565143.stm > In the link that you cite, "Right now access is controlled by the National Guard and local authorities". FEMA had nothing to do with that. > FEMA bars morticians from entering New Orleans > http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=15147862&BRD= ... In the article you cite a quote from it sums up why people are turned away " you can't go in there. They don't know them (trained volunteers) from Adam, so they can't let them in," he said of federal officials." > > FEMA blocks 500-boat citizen flotilla from delivering aid > http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/9/3/171718/0826 Hmmm, you do not see anything inheritly dangerous in this? If problems would have occured then resources ,like the Coast Guard" would have to be diverted to handle the situation. > > FEMA fails to utilize Navy ship with 600-bed hospital on board > http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-0509 .. Do you realize the enormaity of the whole operation? With the tons of supplies, thoushands of personnel and vehicles, victims and tasks that just because one ships medical bay is not used is not a failure. The ship was being used to house and transport supplies to Mississippi. > > FEMA to Chicago: Send just one truck > http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-050902dale .. So what? Do realize that they had hundreds of truck that were either there or being offered? > > FEMA turns away generators > http://www.wwltv.com/local/stories/WWLBLOG.ac3fcea.html Was not in the link. Besides, you get them then you have to distribute them. You have to have fuel. Perhaps the best use of man power at that time was on rescue and food supply and fuel management for emergency vehicles. > > FEMA: "First Responders Urged Not To Respond" > http://www.fema.gov/news/newsrelease.fema?id=18470 > > That last one is real -- not satire but straight from FEMA's website. > The response to Hurricane Katrina must be well coordinated between federal, state and local officials to most effectively protect life and property, Brown said. We appreciate the willingness and generosity of our Nations first responders to deploy during disasters. But such efforts must be coordinated so that fire-rescue efforts are the most effective possible. > >>MRC >> >>P.S. I recieve no discount on food, gas or drugs.
