Well, at least the London one works more efficiently than DC's does,
though. They use zone systems, instead of having your fare determined by
the exact number of stations you travel to. So a single ticket will get
you to a station that's one stop away for the same price as a station
that's 10 stops away. Last time I used the DC metro, it didn't work
like that.
