A friend who use dto work for the fed UMTA once told me it really
costs three times the price of a token to ride the subway but these
sleazy pinkos take the money from your toll booths and don't use it
to repair roads like they're supposed to.

I don't know what it costs in NYC, but here in Montreal, te passengers' part of the total cost is about 40% these days. It was 33% several years ago but fares have gone up. The rest comes from local municipalities served by the transit system and from the provincial government.

With the fare increase, it is expected to increase to almost 70 percent. This includes the debt service on some of the capital subsidies, as well as direct year-to-year operating costs. ----------------------------------------------------- Rock Miller (71054.527@compuserve.com) Metropolitan Transportation Authority, New York On My Own Dime.
