Amen.

Yes. The same people that want us to write only Lynx-friendly HTML are the same
people that believe new cars should be "speed limited" to allow Model A Fords to
keep up with them on the roads.
Wake up DRS. Long gone are the days when HTML was the domain of geeks who enjoyed
typing tags to make a page. WYSIWYG editors have contributed significantly to the
volume of material (this is NOT a comment about quality) on the internet. When I
wrote my first web page back in 1991 (in the heady days of NCSA Mosaic) I used
Pico (Unix text editor). I continued to use text based editing until Netscape "got
it right" in Composer. Now I use Composer first and foremost, however, I still
drag up notepad to do a final tidy-up of my final page when necessary.
I will not cripple my web pages for the sake of the bandwidth-lame or
browser-inept.
WYSIWYG is sufficient (read: Overkill) for 99% of HTML authors. DRS - why can't
you just accept the facts - if your strongest "programming" lies in HTML you
*have* been made semi-redundant by quality WYSIWYG editors.
