Prediction on the future of cellphones

I just heard a radio ad today offering Super 12 sports results on the
Telecom 027 network. Surely that is a service absolutely nobody would
use. I was wondering if the evolution of cellphones has gone mad. I
think 3G cellphones will be the greatest technological flop this
century.

Would anyone else out there like to offer their view on the future of
cellphones? SNOOPY

Its $10/MB - 50 times more expensive then jetstream, and about 50 times
slower too :(

He doesn't know. All he knows is that Telecom use CDMA so it must be crap
(tm).

No, GPRS is like an 'always on' Internet connection to your phone - you get
charged by the packet to transfer data, not by time. At $22/Mb it strikes
me as one of the stronger reasons why Microsoft must not be allowed to put
software on phones.

Is that a technical limitation? Or a limitation based on the fact
that GSM has a more established worldwide network in more countries
than CDMA?

vodafone do, its $0.10 per 10 kilobytes on the casual plan - there are
cheaper options for higher use, but I only use it for the odd email.

I did find you can get to ebay thru wap, but its soooooo slow its not worth
the bother.
