In article (Richard Vowles) writes: Alex> Couldn't you keep this out of USENET? Rich>But it relates to Usenet. Why keep out what directly relates to Usenet? No it relates to a dispute between Auckland University and people who get email from it. Read the original message again. In any debate it is useful to be able to read and understand. Most people have the first down pat. Alex> We really don't want to know about your misunderstandings with Alex> other people --- they bore us and show you up to be... well volatile Alex> might be a polite term. Rich>And your by your attitude in this letter, one of personal character Rich>assassination shows you up to be a pompus ass. At least my "insults" are spelt correctly. I was trying to say politely that people's postings here create in the minds of the people who read them impressions based on those postings. Clarke has so far not impressed me with his postings which suggest that he doesn't have the first clue about handling correspondance that doesn't have a tone of abject groveling. If he was the the bank manager of the bank I had my accounts with, I'd be seriously considering changing my bank. I on the other hand am merely a computer person working at a university. I don't really care what people think about my character because it isn't important. That allows me a little more leeway than a bank manager, or a doctor or anyone else who works in a position of trust. Sure I'm longwinded and pompous, but it's a big job and can't be held by both you and Clarke alone. We all have to do our bit. Alex>Net Pit Bull in Training Rich>But currently a wind up Kmart poodle. I imagine that you are unable to appreciate the irony of flaming someone for flaming someone else, and the irony of flaming me for being a character assasin while indulging in the same tactics yourself. Next time leave out the cheap shots and your argument will be *much* stronger. (and as this "debate" has taken up quite enough bandwidth, I won't bother replying to your next sally on this subject. Even though that will probably imply to you that you have me in the crushing grip of reason (al la Calvin and Hobbs for the humour impaired).
