UUASC
Unix Users Association of Southern California
October Meeting
---------------------------------------------
JavaBeans
---------------------------------------------
Monday, October 11, 7-9 pm
I B M
600 Anton Bl, second floor, Costa Mesa
(NW corner of Anton and Avenue of the Arts)
While most programmers are aware of Java as a web-enabled object-oriented
programming language, many are unaware of how Java can be used to build
components which interact with each other in common ways. By following a set
of design rules, JavaBeans can be created, reused, modified, and assembled
into applications and applets. Additionally, JavaBeans provide a recognized
and well-supported interface for the creation of components which will work
with any conforming third-party integrated development environment.
At the UUASC October meeting, member Mike Elliott of Sun will discuss what
JavaBeans are, how the event-driven programming model works, why JavaBeans
work the way they do, and show a simple JavaBean in Sun's BeanBox.
The UUASC is for all persons using Unix either personally or professionally,
or interested in learning more about Unix. We recognize all varieties of
Unix, including (without prejudice) SCO, Linux, SVr4, Solaris, AIX, and BSD.
This is a good place to meet others with similar interests and broaden your
skills and knowledge. Generally, meetings include a technical presentation
on a hardware or software topic of current interest to the Unix community
and a round-table discussion of current topics of interest to the group.
We are always looking for interesting presentations and your suggestions
are most welcome.
Please join us this month and bring along your friends or co-workers. Also,
please forward this announcement to others who may be interested and feel
free to post it on BBSs, both electronic and physical. If you receive more
than one announcement by email, please let us know so we can keep our lists
current. Thanks for listening.
