Further to our infoport brainstorm...

1) Does anyone have to hand references to the Scandinavian work
on chains of producer/supplier/supplier's supplier/....
-never- going to printed forms but doing everything by ETF?

I think I encountered it at a CSCW conference in Europe,
thought it was out of place at the time...I know the Swedes
have been looking at privacy/sovereignty issues in regard to ETF.

2) A while back (six or seven years now)
I proposed an educational
project to the European Community in which
school students would research their own community and gather information
that they though would be useful to students, tourists, and businessmen
in another (specified) city; their proposals would be validated by swapping
the data with students in the specified city, who would check it out to
see if the right questions (in their view) had been asked and answered.
The final phase would be the production of CD-Roms including the data
and imagery for each city. I lost out in the final round of competition
to a sexier, satellite-based project. Now I am wondering, what is the
infoport version of that idea? A cd-rom image on each participating city?
Downloadable? How could that be used to support 'made locally, sold globally'
initiatives?

3) infoport is being "sold" as getting A in contact with B, through various
kinds of electronic indexing. Wouldn't a better model be the merchant/broker
who gets a cut from getting A in contact with B? But then, what is the best
model for information brokerage? Frank Odasz' Community Telegrapher,
who is never going to get rich but gets a lot of the other kind of reward from
empowering communities? The conventional mercantile middleman? The marriage
broker?k I'm thinking more about the opportunities for individual initiative,
packaging a well-targeted product, rather than big data services of the
Dialog variety.
