Truth to tell, I've had replies to Grant (Bluemoon's owner/sysop/
admin/whatever), replying directly to mail sent from Bluemoon get
bounced and eventually killed (undelivered) by one of the uucp daemons
because a connection was never made.
 
If the original poster just needs to keep up USENet mail, I know it's
possible to send messages back and forth between FIDO and Usenet
(every FIDOnet address has a USENet address with '.fidonet.org'
appended).  The two boards I'm SURE you can get FIDO access at are
Computrek BBS (a pay board running with multiple lines under The Major
BBS, offering many services unavailable to smaller boards) and Hangar
18 BBS (a free board running Wildcat!  BBS at 448-2314 as I recall).
