In a US/Mexico border town, Mexican DA Mike Vargas (Charlton Heston)
and a corrupt lawman Hank Quinlan (Orson Welles) come into conflict after
the DA and his bride (Janet Leigh) witness a murder. When a local crime
boss (Akim Tamiroff) with a grudge against Vargas gets involved, a
bizarre and dark series of events take place, in this bizarre and amazing
thriller, now improved by the recutting of the picture to something
closer to what Welles had originally intended for the picture before
the studio had him removed from the picture.
