Trickle up. The only theory that works in the real world. False, big time. I suppose you think that rich people keep money in giant vaults. They don't. They invest it in business, and that helps all of us. Even the middle class can help out by investing in the stock market. Many people that look rich on paper are actually struggling to make ends meet. This is because "their money" is the same thing as "the money of the small business which they own". These people might earn $300,000/year, but then $270,000 goes to expenses. It is the desire to be rich that drives our economy. If you make it hard to get rich, then people are less likely to try. It is really good for the economy when people start new businesses. Why would anyone want to do all that hard work and not get rich? Anything that helps the rich get richer helps everyone. The economy is not zero-sum. When someone gets rich, that does not mean that they have taken money from someone else. It means that they have created new wealth which they _must_ share with all their employees. Jobs are good for the poor. I have no sympathy for people that refuse to get a job if one is offered. The very existance of welfare is detrimental to the economy. Why work if you will be taxed to support people that won't work? Anyone poor with 1/10th of a brain knows that there is no reason to get a job. That's really bad for the economy. I'm not quite as cold as I seem though, because people _will_ get jobs if there are jobs available and they are faced with starvation. That's what it takes to get some people to work, so don't worry about them. Note that California has high state taxes and the economy has gone bad. Nevada and Arizona are doing _very_ well now, to a large extent because they have extremely low taxes. Every year the poor have to pay someone to do their taxes. I don't think they should have to deal with that. The national sales tax law even includes a tax refund for the poor. How can you ask for more? I'd not even include that because the sales tax is not a flat tax at all. It's a flat _rate_ tax. Don't think you can collect much money from the rich. There are not enough rich people to make a serious dent in the amount of tax you pay. You won't benefit from taxing the rich. I guess you are jealous, which is not good (a deadly sin I think).
