Barak Obama has ten years experience in public office, more than the two other leading Democratic candidates, Hillary Clinton (six-plus years as Senator from New York) and John Edwards (six years as Senator from North Carolina). Barack's first eight years spent in the Illinois senate before his two years (and counting) of service in the U.S. Senate, should not be forgotten. Far away from the Washington spotlight, he introduced, voted on and passed bills, debated with his colleagues—something that was missing in Washington, where everything is settled in the backroom—and arduously worked to satisfy his constituents. Most important of all, he learned that how to work across the aisle, and get stuff done. > He has zero executive experience umm...read what paragraph above again, Orval. Barak Obama has ten years executive experience. has zero legislative accomplishments Orval? In the Illinois State Senate, Barak Obama worked with both Democrats and Republicans to help working families get ahead by creating programs like the state Earned Income Tax Credit, which in three years provided over $100 million in tax cuts to families across the state. He also pushed through an expansion of early childhood education, and after a number of inmates on death row were found innocent, Senator Obama worked with law enforcement officials to require the videotaping of interrogations and confessions in all capital cases. I'd call that a bit more than "nothing". AND in the U.S. Senate, he has focused on tackling the challenges of a globalized, 21st century world with fresh thinking and a politics that no longer settles for the lowest common denominator. His first law was passed with Republican Tom Coburn, a measure to rebuild trust in government by allowing every American to go online and see how and where every dime of their tax dollars are spent. He has also been the lead voice in championing ethics reform that would root out Jack Abramoff-style corruption in Congress. > and has been in the Senate for 143 days -- most of it spent running for > President. > His only experience that I can recall is helping ACORN rig the vote in > Chicago, Now, Orval. There you go again with the lies. In 1995, Mr. Obama was on a team of lawyers that represented Acorn in a lawsuit to compel Illinois to comply with federal laws intended to enhance access to the polls. The team also represented Equip for Equality, a group that promotes the rights of the disabled, and four individuals. That is his entire association with them. The "vote rigging" that you referred to was when they hired some people to register votes who wrote in prank names such as "Mickey Mouse" on voter registration forms. The people with the false names never would have been able to vote anyway since identification is required prior to voting and Obama wasn't even involved in that, so please. You're sounding very silly about now. listening to a hate monger in a racist church for 20 years, Obama himself said about the Rev.: " I knew Rev. Wright as someone who served this nation with honor as a United States Marine, as a respected biblical scholar, and as someone who taught or lectured at seminaries across the country, from Union Theological Seminary to the University of Chicago. He also led a diverse congregation that was and still is a pillar of the South Side and the entire city of Chicago. It's a congregation that does not merely preach social justice but acts it out each day, through ministries ranging from housing the homeless to reaching out to those with HIV/AIDS. Most importantly, Rev. Wright preached the gospel of Jesus, a gospel on which I base my life. In other words, he has never been my political advisor; he's been my pastor. And the sermons I heard him preach always related to our obligation to love God and one another, to work on behalf of the poor, and to seek justice at every turn. The statements that Rev. Wright made that are the cause of this controversy were not statements I personally heard him preach while I sat in the pews of Trinity or heard him utter in private conversation." "Let me say at the outset that I vehemently disagree and strongly condemn the statements that have been the subject of this controversy. I categorically denounce any statement that disparages our great country or serves to divide us from our allies. I also believe that words that degrade individuals have no place in our public dialogue, whether it's on the campaign stump or in the pulpit. In sum, I reject outright the statements by Rev. Wright that are at issue. " > funneling public funds to his political friends like Tony Rezko, Obama hasn't been associated with Rezko since his indictment for wire fraud, bribery, money laundering and attempted extortion, and Obama donated ALL of the disgraced businessman's previous campaign contributions to charity. Your proof is right here: http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/guilt_and_associations.html > association with unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers and then trying to > downplay all of that "experience" that he built up. Sorry, chump. Obama was just a little kid when the radical behavior of Bill Ayers took place. As for his being "unrepentant", you are leaving out the fact that Ayers and his wife turned themselves in back in the 80's. Since then they have been prominent members of the academic community and have worked hard to make schools better places for our kids. Ayers hosted a small gathering for Obama years ago, just as a lot of people do, and they served on a committee together. What was that you said about Keatings? > Never once did he challenge the most corrupt political machine in the > country, the Chicago Daley Democrat machine. Barak Obama is all about change, unlike the old man McSame. > Obama's "experience" qualifies him to buy a cup of coffee at Starbuck's > for $4.00. So says you, but then you aren't anyone of any notability and you haven't substantiated anything at all here. > McCain has been a leader in the Navy and has sponsored numerous > legislative initiatives in the Senate. John McCain graduated near the lowest in his class at the military academy that he never would have gotten into if his father hadn't pulled strings for him. He served in the military and did a damned good job of it. I'll give him that, but he is just another spokesman for the radical right lunatic fringe. He is going to lose this election anyway. Barak Obama is your next President little fella.
