I have a PC running (well almost) MS Dos 6.2, but am having troubles with
the 'command interpreter'.

I have tried just about anything, and can't get this problem resolved. I
don't have a way to :sys the drive, as I don't have any bootable diskettes
with MS dos 6.2.

Where can I get one, or how could I create one having only PC Dos 5.0
bootables around here?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx

The command interpreter is "COMMAND.COM" You don't need to sys the drive if it
is having trouble with the command interpreter; it already has msdos.sys and
io.sys on the drive, or you wouldn't be getting that message.

You probably have CONFIG.SYS file screwed up, so that it is looking for
COMMAND.COM in some directory where it isn't found.

COMMAND.COM is version-specific, so COMMAND.COM from DOS5 is not going to work
very well; even using the one from DOS6.22 is not going to work very well on
DOS6.2 OTOH, you can use 4DOS. It's an UPgrade to COMMAND.COM.
You can download it with your browser if you paste in this URL:

Yes, but...............

I removed all the files from this PC and reinstalled with my own image.
However, when I decided I needed everything back on this system I realized
I had not coppied those 2 hidden files to my backup. _Everything_ (except
that PC) that I have is running PC dos. It was running MSDos. (Now I
want it back)

Therefore, I do not have the files IO.SYS or MSDOS.SYS anywhere in my
archives. How can I recreate these files?

What happened to your DOS 6.22 installation disks?
