"COMPOSE: A Composite Event Specification & Detection System"
COMPOSE is a composite event specification & detection system. By
establishing an equivalence between the COMPOSE specification model and
regular expressions, we are able to implement composite event detection by
finite automata.
I will discuss the utility of composite events in an active database, and
the interactions between triggers and the transaction management system. I
will briefly mention the relationship between datalog and event
expressions. Finally, I will introduce "event oriented programming" as a
new weapon in our battle against software complexity.
Work done jointly, in large part, with one or more of N. Gehani, I.S.
Mumick, and O. Shmueli.
