Ace Computer (in Toronto, on Queen St. west of University) sells Signalman Mark XII modems for $400 (as of Dec '84). I've got one, and I'm quite pleased. It runs at 1200 baud or 300 baud, is Hayes compatible (they say), supports auto dial, auto answer, auto speed detect, and so on. The only catch is that it doesn't transmit break signals. I haven't had any trouble with it. By the way, if anybody knows about a modification that allows the Signalman to transmit a break, I'd be interested.
