Portland, Oregon -- Anti-Drug War activists Paul Stanford and Floyd
Landrath were interviewed this afternoon by KGW-TV's Kevin Roy along
with cameraman Ken McCormick. The segment, we are told, will air
tonight at approx. 11p.m. (PDT).
Both Stanford and Landrath were afforded ample interview time to
describe each of the 3 currently circulating petitions related to
ending the drug war, and regulating cannabis along with all other mis-
controlled substances. The 3 petitions are:
1) RFM-HB3643, "Recrim" referendum to block legislation, require a
vote in Nov. '98, 60,000 signatures needed by Oct. 1;
2) Oregon Cannabis Tax Act, OCTA, would tax and regulate cannabis for
adults using alcohol as a regulation model, allows adult personal
cultivation, medical use and pharmaceutical quality, and creates an
Oregon 'Industrial' Hemp Commission, 100,000 signatures needed by
June 30, 1998;
3) Oregon Drugs Control Amendment, ODCA, sweeping reform, ends adult
prohibition, state must regulate all drugs "with emphasis on medical
and public health considerations," release first-time, non-violent
"drug offenders," expands treatment options, forbids state from
making a "net" profit, 125,000 signatures needed by June 30, 1998.
All 3 petitions were described as a unified whole that represented a
united effort on the part of all "Drug Peace!" activist around the
state, across the country, and around the world.
All 3 petitions are also endorsed by the Oregon Libertarian and Pacific
Parties.
In solidarity for international "Drug Peace!"
Floyd Ferris Landrath - Director
