CIVILIZED INSANITY?

   Why can it not be seen that the normal  relationship between
civilized  man and woman, living in this world of thought,  is based
in the dualistic state of opposition  manifesting as the conflict of
competition?

   Someone wins, and someone loses. There is an excitement to that
kind of friction. It is the friction of Hell in operation.  The loser
will always claim abuse, while the victor temporarily enjoys living
off the energy given up by the victim.. 

   Sometimes the victim has the power over the apparent victor with an
image of "poor me, poor me."  We wean our little boys and girls on
fairy tales.  We inculcate into them stories  of a  "Prince Charming"
rushing to the aide of an amnesiac Princess who appears to be a damsel
in distress.  The key to successful indoctrination is the installation
of an image of helplessness that is accepted as a feminine trait.
They are forever in search of a hero to love them and make their lives
whole.  Not a very nice thing to do to our children, is it?  Instead
of self reliance and responsibilty, we turn our kids into codependent
opposites, needing what is in the other to fulfill that which is
missing in themselves.

   In the masculine arena, this competitive indoctrination may be
confirmed for oneself by tuning into a Saturday TV sports show and
hearing the Commentator urging and conditioning minds of all age
groups to experience "the thrill of victory and the agony of
defeat"... vicariously though it may be.

  Men are trained to divorce themselves from their feelings; to go
beyond pain and struggle to the finish.  Both sexes are trained to
fight with everyone.  With those of their own gender and with those of
the opposite gender.  It is the conditioning practices that pave the
way for the "battle of the sexes."  But in our trained state of
insanity, all but a few human beings are foreclosed upon examining it
because we have resigned ourselves to accepting such behavior as
normal.

  In my view, normal is insanity, and those who are able to see it are
outsiders.  They are "in this world, but not of it;" they don't belong
in normal circles. They are painful to be around, for the truth of
their spirit is continuously mirroring the insanity that abounds and
surrounds them.   And so they endure the persecution and revilement
that accompanies their perceived differences. They do so without
resistance.  How?  They merely speak their truth and let the chips
fall where they may.

    Those who consider themselves normal have been trained to be
spectators in life, and rather opinionated ones at that. They never
speak directly of themselves and their understanding; but are "talk
abouts" who take pride in living off the dead words and ideas of
others, never fully understanding what they are talking about.  They
are "letter of the word" people who have lost touch with the spirit
and cover it up with a barrage of words.

  Few amongst us live life honestly, integrally, nondualistically,
directly.  Most prefer the excitement that accompanies hypocrisy and
deception.  We take great pride in our intrigues.  We make our faults
into virtues.  We are trapped in a world of bassackwards.  Our pride,
however, will not allow  self-acknowledgement of our foibles and so
hell is perpetuated in that consciousness.  As a result, man condemns
himself to his own self-projected  Hell, never realizing that he,
himself is the enslaver of his spirit to his own confusions.  It is
all done through avoidance of personal responsibility and through
looking for someone or something outside of him to blame for his
condition.

  The problem with this picture of abuse is that our whole way of
life, which we  label normal and  civilized, is truely insanity
itself.  We play with words. The insane avoid seeing their own
insanity through the consensus of numbers who in their confusion cling
to one another in mutual  support of  an abnormal behavior called
normal.  In their world of bassackwards, they apply the word insanity
to any  behavior seen as a departure from their "norm."  They can only
observe life through their personal screen of ideas.  They are blinded
to the direct observation of actions, which  is the objective measure
of truth.  A wise man once said, "By their actions, Ye shall know
them."  In our insanity we worship the man and ignore the wisdom of
His spirit-filled words.

  All but a few are blinded to the objective world. There are
scientists who will tell you there is no such thing as an objective
world.  To them I say the answer to that cannot be reached through the
subjective machinations of the intellect. What is regarded as
scientific truths are nothing  more  than theories; reasonable, verbal
explanations accepted by lesser intellects in lieu of the state of
actuality which lies beyond words. 

   Truth is not measurable, but the idea of truth is. How does one
come to the truth?  Look about you with a quiet mind.  If the action
is holistic and harmonious, sanity is operative.  If there is no end
to a  reactive stream of conflicting opposites, one may choose to call
it normal; but, objectively, it must be seen for the insanity that it
is.   

   Civilized man has stepped through the "looking glass" and sees
everything in terms of the opposites based in judgment.  Nowhere is it
more evident than in the stream of articles found in some of these
newsgroups.  Insanity must end for sanity to begin.

  The time to end it is NOW!
