Blame George for that nonsense. As far as I can tell they are only arsonists, not immolationists. >I am sure they were the first to use public >nudity as a peaceful rebellion! > Godiva doesn't count? this old biddy was no Godiva: Oct, 2001 Nelson, B.C. An 81-year-old Doukhobor woman who set fire to a college building was sentenced to six years in prison Friday and told court she was worried about world peace. Mary Braun was also fined $200,000 to compensate the college. She has been fasting for a week, and her lawyer told B.C. Supreme Court that any kind of prison sentence could be a life sentence. But Justice Mark McEwan said he could not ignore Ms. Braun's past record, which includes a total of 23 years in prison and and 10 convictions, 12 for arson since 1971. [...] Ms. Braun is a member of the radical Sons of Freedom Doukhobor sect, whose members are also known as Freedomites. They have traditionally disrobed and burned possessions as a symbol of renouncing material possessions. They also conduct hunger strikes as a form of protest.
