But I'm fascinated with this new and clever Play on Words with my name. Since, unlike you, I have never gone with an alias so as to hide my identity, you do get a clear shot at it. So -- what's the objective here. Previously, those of Little Obvious Wit have tried to make it into a version of "homo" as a clever ploy. Is that where you're trying to go? If it is, consider there's a double entendre involved, since the specific term Homo sapiens applies to everyone, and means Wise or Thinking Man. There is the far-too-obvious and jejeune try to make it into homosexual, but I can quite assure you (I have references) that descriptor does not fit. Otherwise, it's a perfectly reasonable name of Germanic extraction. Shoot -- a former USMC CG once carried a version of it, some time back. Now, if you want to discuss Unfortunate Names, a former colleague of mine in the newspaper bidniss carried the monicker of Phil Penas -- with the tilde over the "n" giving it the hispanic pronunciation. That is, in Spain, a reasonably proud and useful name. Unfortunately, in this nation, he experienced some 11-yr-olds giving it the obvious mispronunciation, save the Phil took the problem seriously, and it bugged him well into his adult years. Eventually he changed his name to Mathews -- a play on his middle name. Unfortunate -- one hates to see perfectly good ethnically-derived names become Anglicized simply because a bunch of 5th-grade mentalities caused problems back in elementary school. Ah well -- such things happen. But it does leave me wondering when your 12th birthday might be? Should you ever have the courage to use your Real Name in your postings, rather than hiding behind a nomme de Net, perhaps there are some other 11-yr-olds out there who might want to be clever with yours as well. Meanwhile, call me what you will. I can handle your sort hardly without noticing the effort. It's not as though you're terribly original, after all.
