Broken VCR needs help

Symptom: Tape will not load.

What I did: There was a tape stuck in the VCR so I opened it and pulled the
tape out, I might have used a little bit excessive force :( Then I couldn't
put the tape back in.

Probable Cause: (This is what I found in a book about VCR repair)
 1. Cassette loading switches dirty or broken
 2. Loading mechanism jammed
 3. Cassette cover release not activated
 4. Loading motor inoperative

Help sought on: I couldn't locate where the cassette loading switch is,
nor do I have the necessary equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope) to test
it. If anyone out there has experienced a similar problem, or thinks you
know how to fix it, PLEASE PLEASE contact me either by email or call me at
(614)421-0934.

Thank you very much in advance.

If you forced *anything* then you better take it in for repair. It would
be virtually impossible to diagnose your problems over the Net.

You may now have two problems (at least) - the original which caused it
to jam and possibly now an alignment or timing problem in the mechanism.
The original problem may have been as simple as a slipping belt.

Take a look at the VCR repair FAQ if you like. Whoever attempts to repair it
will need to first undo any possible damage that resulted from forcebly
removing the tape and then attack the original problem.

This should be a lesson to all wanabe repair experts - think before your force.
