TAKE BACK THE NIGHT

TAKE BACK THE NIGHT with us on Thursday, May 22nd on The Ohio State
University Campus. Student organizers from the Association of Women
Students are presenting the TAKE BACK THE NIGHT rally, march, and vigil
to campus this year. This is and international event at which we, as a
community, declare our refusal to accept any violence against women and
children. Violence and oppression are perpetuated in our society.
Crimes of rape, murder, incest, battering, sexual assault, ritual abuse,
pornography, and sexual harrassment continue through our ignorance,
acceptance, silence and denial.
We invite the Columbus community to gather on this night to empower
and educate each other. The rally will begin at 8:00 p.m. on the North
steps of Sullivant Hall, 1813 N. High Street, and includes several
speakers, music and information tables addressing women's concerns. The
march will begin at approximately 9:00 p.m. and will conclude with a
vigil at 9:40 back at the Sullivant Hall location.
As is the tradition, we invite all men to come and listen to the
experiences of their sisters, partners, friends and family during the
rally and vigil, but respectfully request they not participate in the
march. We will be presenting a men's program at Sullivant Hall at that
time.
