WHAT IS A STUDY CIRCLE?

A dozen people or so comfortably seated around a living room or meeting
room, one speaking, several others looking like they would like to make
a point, skimming an article, scanning the group and others listen
attentively while someone makes a point.
They meet several times to discuss various choices of society or discuss
what choices their organization might make concerning a social or political
issue. It involves lively focused discussions. It is a well-tested, practical
and effective method for adult learning and social change.
All participants has an equal opportunity to participate, it belongs to
participants, members set the agenda. No one is an expert but rather gets a
deeper understanding and judgement by focusing on the values that underlie
opinions.

This quarter here on Campus there will be a study circle on Racism,
starting this week is the introductory session. We would welcome individuals
who would like to participate.
Since our topic is dealing with multiculturism and diversity no one is
excluded. As a matter of fact we would like the group to be made up
of people of many backgrounds, so participants can learn of other
member's experiences.

Please call 292-8782 for more info or to get involved.
