I picked up some good deals at the Crown Assets Distribution Centre, 
933 Gladstone Ave, Ottawa, Canada (613) 952-0272 in one of their 
cash and carry sales.  They dispose of surplus government equipment.
(ie: I purchased a 286 PC, with 20 Meg HD, 360K floppy, Monochrome monitor, 
and Keyboard for $165.)

They are having more sales, some cash and carry on individual items, and 
some closed envelope bits for whole skids of stuff (called a public sale).

Incidently, it was well run, with no mob scenes.  The staff were helpful and 
polite also.

If you plan to purchase a PC, remember to bring a floppy with system and MS-DOS, 
and possibly even bring a main power cord (these were in short supply).
There are power outlets available that some people used to verify that 
their systems were more or less functional.  Of course, there are no guarentees
on any of the equipment.  (Mine seems to work fine though).

There are lots of other things there too, like: gasoline cans, rubber boots, 
axe handles, bars of soap, printers, cameras, filing cabinets, chairs, work boots,
teletype machines, selectric typewriters, surveillence video cameras, books,
 .... indeed a whole warehouse of your exhausted tax dollars!
