Netscape has always been more based on standards than IE. One example of where this does not help on the win32 platform is in the way Netscape handles MIME types. Netscape uses MIME types supplied from the server, IE ignores MIME types. The end result, a Unix web server that has its MIME types improperly configured causes Netscape to incorrectly download files in ASCII mode rather than binary. IE just ignores that MIME type and downloads the file in binary mode. Selecting Save as... does not help, the file will still download incorrectly when using Netscape. Standards are not always a good thing.
