Be careful there. Thank you for clarifying Idirect's false advertising
for us. IDirect OTTAWA is *NOT* multi-homed. It is singularly-homed to
Idirect Toronto via a 10Meg ATM circuit.

Singularly homed, non-T3 connections...makes you just want to shake your
head. How, pray tell, does a company such as Idirect get away with such
false advertising? Sad, sad, sad.

With sincerity, I say it's a shame to see you go. Newforce was one of the
ISP's in Ottawa that welcomed and faced competition fairly.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I tried NewForce for a while, then switched
to Cyberus and haven't looked back. They are offering awesome service, 24-7
Tech Support by people who actually know their stuff, and their rates are
reasonable. You'd have to be silly to go elsewhere.

Just before they go under... (I have read the court transcripts...) They are
attempting to screw there customers for the last time... Just like when they
were livewire INC. PISNET (formally iSTAR) recieved so many complaints that
they shut down their website.

Yes Newforce may be financialy insolvent at this time. I would recommend
that you continue business with them at this time because of risks involved
with this possible insolvency.

There has been many complaints that I have heard of poor service and slower
than freenet. At least freenet is a bit more reliable.

Here is an open invitation to all Newforce users. Come to Cyberus, they
offer awesome service, 24/7 tech support, and competative pricing. And if
you are not satisfied after the first month, than you can cancel your
service with no hassle. I've tried them all, and Cyberus is the best.

Thanks, Jake, we really appreciate the kind words.
It was a tough decision, but I'm sure you know as well
that the competition has become especially big this
year, so we're going to concentrate our efforts on
content and hosting.

We'll miss many of the people that we've gotten to
know over the years, some of them longtime customers
from the BBS days, (back when we had monthly get-togethers
and actually got to see a few more faces, not just the
user IDs.)

As far as the wild statements by Mr. Wiper, well...I hate
to even reply to him, but I do want to stress that:

*No, we aren't insolvent, out-of-business or anything
of that kind.

*Yes, we had an ongoing court case against our ex-landlord,
which unfortunately took a great deal of time, money and
mental anguish to pursue, but it had to be done.

*LiveWire existed as a BBS until March 1997, and was
shut down primarily due to lack of interest, as most
folks got their chatting needs fulfilled by the Net
by that point in time.

Anyway, enough said.

Thanks again-
Kelly Paradis

In article <otyJ3.1100$i3.34032@nnrp1.uunet.ca>,"Scott Wiper"

Two words scott,

slander \Slan"der\, n. [OE. sclandere, OF. esclandre, esclandle,
escandre, F. esclandre, fr. L. scandalum, Gr. ??? a snare, stumbling
block, offense, scandal; probably originally, the spring of a trap, and
akin to Skr. skand to spring, leap. See Scan, and cf. Scandal.] 1. A
false tale or report maliciously uttered, tending to injure the
reputation of another; the malicious utterance of defamatory reports;
the dissemination of malicious tales or suggestions to the injury of
another.

libel \Li"bel\, v. t. [imp. & p. p. Libeled (-b[e^]ld) or Libelled; p.
pr. & vb. n. Libeling or Libelling.] 1. To defame, or expose to public
hatred, contempt, or ridicule, by a writing, picture, sign, etc.; to
lampoon.

IMHO, it appears that NewForce is willing to sue to protect their
business. ISP's in Canada have been held responsible for their users
webpage content. I am surprised that you still have an account anywhere
in Ottawa!

WHY? You didn't complain when Synapse sold to AEI in Montreal, or
when Intranet sold to Magma, or Fonorola bought Magi.com... This
is not uncommon in the dialup business. In the last year sevearal
local ISPs closed leaving their users stranded. From what I see
Newforce found a provider so their users weren't left out in the
cold
