to may be able to stop this kinda thing from happening...let me ask...how
many of you have firewalls or network tools? Probably not to many.......take
an active role and you help to stop this kinda crap and hackers to!

What the Hell are you raving about, you tell people is several posts
to learn network admin, use firewalls. Please Mr. Expert tell how a
firewall will prevent a neighbour from setting up a commercial server
and hogging the bandwidth? This guy was hosting at least two commercial
web domains on his @home.com account, this is in direct violation of
the rogers@home.com AUP. You must be a Roger's employee as the original
complaint was 3 weeks ago. Rogers@home cancelled this spammers account
and his domain (OttawaXchange.com) now lives on Magma!

Uh, jon, you seem to miss the point.  Using a firewall or any other sort of
block/filterer will not solve the problem.  Use your head, and think a
little.  All people on the same node as this individual are affected without
having to receive any of the mails/other crap the user is sending out.  The
stuff he is sending out is being sent out on the same pipe as other users,
and that is the complaint.  Where you got the misled idea that a firewall on
my network can somehow alleviate the bandwidth usage on an external network
is beyond me.  Maybe you're talking about one of those new ESP routers,
though.  Think, damnit, and more importantly, listen, before you flap your
jaw.
