This message has been x-posted to aus.radio.scanner.....scroll to 5.30pm
Saturday for frequency for Stadium Australia. Sorry guys, didn't have
the time or inclination to do a separate post for you. You'll just have
to skip the babble..... :-(

==

Well, left work on time (for a change) on Friday afternoon for Operation
Sydney. He's a brief wrap-up of the adventure....

Friday

5.35pm
Picked up from home by one of the guys from work. Get as far as the twin
Caltex servos at Wyong before DJ! discovers that he left the lithium-ion
battery for the digital camera in his briefcase at home. DOH! MD71 +
charger - battery = no pix for OzEmail debate and the Club DUH! kids
:-(

8.00pm
Pick up a former SIA employee from Circular Quay and head up to the
hotel. Checked into our fine accommodation - the Camelot Inn at
Darlinghurst. WHAT A HOLE (but it was nice and cheap @ $99 for the
nite). 2-Star accommodation at its very best. Used own towel for safety
considerations.

8.20pm till 11pm-ish
Shit, shower and shave. Off to the casino and meet up with a few other
people I know through work. DJ! starts drinking REAL hard. Within the
first two hours he'd sunk 3 x Bourbons, 3 x Lemon Stollis, 2 x Southern
Comforts and a delicious chocolate mudsilde. Feeling VERY jolly.

11.30pm
Stumbled down to the carpark. Did two wannabe commando rolls for
something to do. Felt very silly. One of the other (non-drinking) lads
had his work run-about vehicle there. Two in the front and five in the
back - of a bloody Holden Combo van. ROTFL. Off to the cross.....

11.50pm
Into a nice hotel for some pool and more brews. Shoulder sore from the
commando rolls. Hehhehe

Saturday

2.05am
Leave that hotel and off to a strip show. DJ! is feeling VERY tired.
Enter Porky's. The boss from work argues that all the guys should get in
for half price and the girls in for nothing. Doorman says to piss off -
so we did. Moments later he calls us back an in we go under OUR terms.
Hehehehe

Take our seats in the tacky theaterette. Bought an overpriced bottle of
water at $2.90 (yikes!!!!) DJ! fall into a light sleep - LOL. Wakes up
to find a naked woman bent over right in front of him. As lovely as it
was it scared the crap out of him as he forgot where the hell he was.
Ended up seeing *one* actually strip (some thin, ugly, Ally McBeal
wannabe) and excused myself to go back to the hotel. Everyone else said
they were pretty bored, too, so they walked as well.

3.10am
Bought some potato wedges 'cause I was bloody hungry. Bought a kransky
for one of the lads from work as a joke. He threw it on the ground
(looked disgusting) and I jumped on it. Kransky all over the foorpath.

3.30am
Back to Hotel Tacky-o-rama for a good, long sleep.

7.30am
Good, long sleep ruined as someone's bloody mobile phone started
ringing. DOH! Got up and had a shower etc.

9.30am
Bail out and head across to the Birkenhead Point factory outlets for a
spot of shopping and a milkshake. Great place to pick up some bargains.
Not enough electronic gadgetry, however :-(

12.00pm
Dropped one of the girls off at Central Station that had to go back to
Newy early. Take car to the World Square carpark. Got some lunch and
munchies to take to the footy and headed back to Central to get on the
choo-choo to Olympic Park.

2.30pm
Arrive at Olympic Park. VERY impressed with the transport system, crowd
staffing and other infrastructure. First sight of Stadium Australia -
bloody HUUUUGE. Strolled up for a look-see at the Aquatic Centre. had to
look through the turnstiles as they wanted $4.50ea just to have a look.
"BAH TO THAT!" we said.

3.15pm
Find our seat in the stadium. Extremely well organised. No queuing to
get in (due to the designated gate system) and everything is VERY well
laid out. Seats relatively comfy. PA / Sound system extremely clear and
VERY little echo. The MASSIVE Panasonic (tm) screens have to be seen to
be believed. Not your normal bodgy footy screens (where you can see each
lamp), but 20mtr high gas plasma wonders. (The ultimate Playstation
experience methinks). Stroll down to get some (flippin expensive) food -
chips + 3 mini-spring rolls + cup of Coke(tm) = $13.30 (!!!!) Cheapest
item is the hot chips at $2.90 per cup.

5.25pm
Spunky cheerleaders appear on the field (and on the big screens). Crowd
boos emphatically when one the cameramen zooms to a plumper that managed
to get herself onto the squad. Needless to say - she was not on the
screen again.

5.30pm
Football started <yawn>. Great perve in the crowd - best to watch the
footy live on the big screens. Had the scanner with me. Listening to the
ground internal communications (468.7250 mHz for those that are
interested) and started laughing. Across in aisle 146 a pile of people
had to be moved as raw sewerage was leaking onto them from a pipe that
couldn't cope with the onslaught of loose bowels and full bladders.

7.00pm
With the first game yet to finish we bailed out (had to get back to
Newcastle for another party) and took our little glow sticks. Sorry
Darryl Eastlake - there were NOT 110,000 people waving them about. Talk
about hype. I reckon there were AT LEAST 10% of seats unoccupied.
Wouldn't be surprised if their "world record" turns out to be a bit of a
sham. Strolled down to the train station, boarded our train and headed
back to central

8.30pm
Cappucino and muffins in the city. Back to the car and then onto the
freeway. Arrived back in Newcastle a little before 11pm and straight to
the party. It's been a lonnnnnng time since I was at an 18th! Things
don't change - lots of loud young-spuds and kegs of beer. Forced myself
to have a few brews. Young lady strolled up and started chatting. We
were getting along really well until *she* discovered I was 25 and *I*
discovered that she was only 15. YIKES. Backpeddled REAL quick! She
looked AT LEAST 20.

Sunday

2.00am
Left party and headed home - VERY tired. Crashed and slept like a log
till 10.30am. Mission complete.

Shouldn't yawn about football. 468.7250 is Pol ch 36 - District D (Northern
Beaches and North Shore). You probably heard 468.7750 Pol ch 38 - Special
Ops.
Thanks for trying.

Well, I know for sure that it WAS NOT a police channel. On a few
separate occassions I was watching the "funny yellow men" walking around
and thinking to myself, "Oh, this is like they're talking to me!". I can
assure you that they were not police (highly visible in their own spunky
yellow vests).

The "funny yellow" people that I was listening to were dealing with such
"major" dramas as getting new dry ice for one of the mobile drink boys,
which gate should the cheerleaders exit from, what to do with the
dripping sewerage problem and so on.

What I *may* have screwed up is remembering the exact frequency. Damn
aluminium-can-induced-alzhiemers! ;-)

You probably tuned into Saturn - they have "funny yellow men". Pity you have
been drinking too much aluminium, and not remembered the exact frequency. I
have the same drinking problem, but I forget to turn the scanner on. ;-)
