I need a PC serial I/O card with 60550A or 60550AF UARTs. I don't care
about any other functionality on it (e.g. game port, pararell port etc.).
Just need fast UARTs. Contact greg@ansoft.com.

I assume that you mean 16550 UARTs. Most cards that come as a COM1: only
but are expandable to 2 ports are usually socketed for the second UART;
it's a simple matter to replace that 8250 (or 16450) with a 16550.  The
problem there is that you are limited to COM2: for the '550; I've tried
to pull out the 8250 and put in a socket for COM1: on a couple of times;
normally, I end up toasting the card. B-(

However, Jameco has a 16550 card (part # 67053, product JE1062A) for
$39.95; rather steep for a serial card (given the cheap ones are about
$10...); but it has one 16550 and can take another. (2nd port: part
32301, product SSP5; $24.95. Includes UART, cable, and line
driver/receiver chips.)

Howzat?
