                   BERKELEY School Volunteers

You can volunteer in the Berkeley Schools without
                         going to school!

Volunteers are needed to exchange letters once a month with students
as Berkeley Middle School "Literacy Pals"

                   "Conversations about books"

This is a classroom based program intended to encourage
lifelong independent reading habits, develop letter-writing
skills and to link the student to with a caring adult from
the community. To participate, you must make a commitment
to writing once a month, responding within two weeks of
receipt of the student's letter, for the entire school year.
      (September thru June.)

Further information will be sent to you upon request/registration
To join the PTG effort for Literacy Pals - call Ester DeLong at
      415-394-2723.
