SPARC10: Marriage of Computer and Communications
The Oakland/East Bay Communication and Computer Societies will jointly feature
a talk by Sun Microsystem representatives that will focus on the new SPARC10
line of workstations.
The SPARC10 is one of the latest generation of high performance workstations
that incorporate advanced communication features. In addition to the traditional
Ethernet port, the SPARC10 has built-in Integrated Services Digital Network
(ISDN) connectivity. ISDN is the emerging telecommunication standard being
embraced world-wide. Pacific Bell has been active in this area, both in
developing an ISDN applications laboratory as well as planned upgrades to
ISDN-capable public switches.
Sun representatives will cover both the computer aspects of the SPARC10 as
well as addressing the ISDN capabilities. This presentation coincides with
the nation-wide ISDN demonstration `TRIP 92' being held the week of November
16th. The meeting will be held November 19th, at 7:00 p.m., at Pacific Bell
in San Ramon. The attendance will be limited, so reserve early. Please
contact Mark Strauch at 510-422-1469 or strauch1@llnl.gov.
