Darci Chapman asks:
So that's why it's okay to add more radiation into our
environment?? Because we were never radiation free to begin
with? Wow, the logic is stunning.
Indeed, a premise of the reasoning has been omitted, the amount of
radiation to be added compared to the amount we already experience.
Let me put the question to Darci Chapman this way.
If there is some other advantage to be gained, e.g. long lived
smoke detectors, would it be ok to increase the level of radiation
in a home by
a) one part in a thousand?
b) one part in a million?
c) one part in a trillion?
d) one part in a quadrillion?
e) by one atom?
I'd go for one part in a thousand myself.
