Janet Napolitano showed mild concern about the decision of a California refinery to stop shipping its gasoline to Arizona. The Tesoro Corporation purchased the Wilmington refinery from Shell Oil on May 11, according to the Tesoro company Web site. The new owner plans on investing a billion dollars in the plant, but will stop shipping gasoline to Arizona and Nevada in order to increase production for the California market. Arizona receives almost all of its gasoline from two pipelines: one coming from California and one coming from Texas. Arizona relies on several California refineries for fuel.
