hooking printer to 4315

I've hooked up my 4315 running UTek 4.0 to a cheapy little Radio Shack
dot matrick printer (DMP105, if you care). When I try to print (using
either the MDQS driver, or directly using "dd of=/dev/chc" or whatever
the device is), I get an "I/O error". On the other hand, the printer
manages to print out about two lines of text -- presumably, that's how
much data sneaks into the printer buffer before UTek decides there's
a problem.

The printer checks out -- I hooked it to a PC and it worked fine. The
cable seems to be fine. It was bought new, and I checked it with a
voltmeter and all the lines seemed to be hooked up correctly.
Therefore, it must be a problem with either the 4315's connector, or
with the device driver's interpretation of what the printer is doing.
Any suggestions on how to make this work?
