Three magnificent works for chorus and orchestra by Johannes Brahms and
Anton Bruckner will be performed on Sunday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. at
Shadyside Presbyterian Church as Music in a Great Space presents Three
Treasures of Romanticism. John Walker conducts the Shadyside Chancel
Choir, the Shadyside Choral Society and Orchestra in Brahms' Alto
Rhapsody and Song of Destiny along with the major work on the program,
Bruckner's colossal Mass in f minor.
The three works on the program represent the full flowering of 19th
century Romanticism. All three received their premiere in a period of
two years from 1870-1872. Brahms and Bruckner explore the heights and
depths of human emotion in these passionate works for chorus and
orchestra.
Tickets for the concert are $10 and are available through the church
office at 682-4300 or at the door.
