Kathy, I really like dogs too. However, in this particular case, I'd
call a local animal control office and report the stray. In recent
memory, the Pittsburgh area has had some extremely grave dog attacks on
children. Breeds known for their aggression usually have been involved.
I hope the Pit Bull is too weak to attack anyone or anything. I wouldn't
worry at all if the dog was rejected because it lost its last fight.
Since it's a stray, and hungry, I hope it's a lousy hunter and lousy
fighter. Some breeds are dangerous enough that the owner has to exercise
special responsibility, and justify choice of that breed. I feel Pit
Bulls are amoung those dangerous breeds. Domesticated wolves, some
huskies that behave like wolves, Dobermans, and Rotties are also
dangerous choices. Report the Pit Bull and hope it comes to a quick
end. If you have any doubts, just imagine the same dog stalking your
local playground.
