Emergency, the humanitarian group assisting the victims of wars
worldwide, has promoted on its site the following appeal for a Global
Ceasefire:

The world's citizens cannot even find more tears for the tragedies of
terror: each bomb is followed by a car bomb, each death by a revenge
which generates other deaths and revenges.

Different names - war, terrorism, violence - then turn into human bodies
torn to shreds, and shreds of humanity forever lost.

We want no more atrocities to see: it is inhuman that human beings
continue killing each other. Let us halt this spiral: if not, nothing
will be left at the end, no one would be right or wrong, just an endless
chain of bereavement and destruction.

We ask to all those who are planning and carrying out terrorist attacks
and military actions to stop immediately.

We ask for time to reflect, we cannot watch powerless this flood of
homicidal madness.

To all those who promote violence, clandestine organizers of massacres
or all too visible dictators or presidents, we citizens demand :
"Ceasefire!"
(From www.emergency.it)

In a week, the online appeal has gathered more than 34,000 subscribers
in several countries, including US. Many names show up in the list of
promoters, including the "9/11 Families for Peaceful Tomorrow"
Association in New York, the Mayors of Sarajevo and Beograd, the rabbi
Michael Lerner of Tikkun Magazine...

And you?

If would like to subscribe the appeal, go to www.emergency.it, where you'll find a form to send the message to your friends as well.
Perhaps the mayor, the rabbi, the imam, the bishop, the nobel prize and the common citizen at the corner of your town are interested as well .... Why don't you try to ask them? Do you think it is useless? Many, unknown people, scattered the world over, each day build practical alternatives to the deadly utopias of terror and war. The Geneva accord between Israeli and Palestinian citizens, beyond the divisive exploitation of differences, shows once more that it is quite practical for the "powerless" to advance powerful and sensible alternatives....

Any help counts, even as little as writing your name in an appeal.

Let the powers of the world know that you disagree with their policies. Let the terrorists know that you blame them for the death of innocents. Let the world know that there is still hope, if we stop the insanity of this terror-war loop and finally strive to create a better planet, for each and everyone of us.
